Abbey View Alpacas
off the A429 Malmesbury By-Pass
Great fun for all the family, this farm on the outskirts
of Malmesbury is home to alpaca, llamas, rare pigs and
numerous other animals.
Almshouses and Malmesbury Courthouse
St Johns Court, Malmesbury
The Almshouses were built to provide shelter to the poor
of Malmesbury. They are now private accommodation,
owned by the Old Corporation. The Courthouse
(pictured) is still used to hold meetings of the hereditary
club. It can be viewed only through official town tours.
The Four Gates, Malmesbury
Malmesbury centre was once surrounded by a giant
stone wall with only four entrances; three of which are
now marked with plaques. They can be found on the
High Street (pictured), Abbey Row and Holloway Hill.
The fourth, secret gate used by tradesmen (called the
Postern) can be traced by walking under a large
traffic control mirror near the town centre.
Jubilee Gardens
Abbey Row, Malmesbury
A viewing platform with seating which was opened to
mark Queen Elizabeth II's silver jubilee. The view points
to the west, overlooking fields and farmland for miles.
Market Cross
Malmesbury Centre
Marking the centre of the town, this ancient
structure was built in 1490 to provide shelter
to traders, and to be used as a meeting point.
It still serves this purpose today.
